Griffin Capital Securities Surpasses 2018 Fundraising with $1.5 Billion Raised Through September 2019

Griffin Capital Securities LLC, the distribution arm of alternative investment asset manager Griffin Capital Company, reported that its year-to-date 2019 equity capital raise of nearly $1.5 billion has surpassed the equity capital raise of $1.4 billion for all of 2018.

Griffin Capital Securities LLC, the distribution arm of alternative investment asset manager Griffin Capital Company, reported that its year-to-date 2019 equity capital raise of nearly $1.5 billion has surpassed the equity capital raise of $1.4 billion for all of 2018.

Griffin Capital’s alternative investments include three groups of products: actively managed interval funds in the company’s Institutional Access fund family, non-traded real estate investment trusts, and tax-advantaged private real estate investment offerings.

Griffin Capital’s offerings are distributed to investors through independent broker-dealers, national wirehouses, and registered investment advisory firms. The company recently formed an institutional advisory group to offer support to institutions, bank trusts, family offices, and highly capitalized investors.

Fundraising results for the period include:

  • 25.5 percent increase third quarter 2019 over third quarter 2018
  • 42.6 percent increase year-to-date 2019 over same period 2018
  • Added 69 new distribution opportunities for third quarter 2019
  • Added 180 new distribution opportunities year-to-date 2019

The company also noted that compared to the same period in 2018, so far this year, investor equity raised through the independent broker-dealer channel increased 33.6 percent, wirehouse increased 42.8 percent, and registered investment advisory increased 60.3 percent.

In addition, the company said that its institutional advisory group experienced the most significant increase with investor equity 22.2 times higher than the same period in 2018.

The firm’s investment offerings include core real estate and global corporate credit securities, as well as direct real estate ownership in sector-specific portfolios focused on net leased office and industrial assets, clinical healthcare properties, and multifamily real estate.

The company’s investment programs include Griffin Institutional Access Credit Fund, Griffin Institutional Access Real Estate Fund, Griffin Capital Essential Asset REIT, Griffin Institutional Property Exchange Delaware statutory trusts, and a qualified opportunity zone fund.
