Cetera Adds Pair of RIAs With More Than $234 Million AUA

Two wealth management firms recently joined Cetera Financial Group. Sonterra Wealth Management LLC, led by Jake Spruiell, was formerly with PNC Investments. Financial Services, led by Paul Seymour and Nicole Parker, join Cetera via Summit Financial Networks and came from Cadaret, Grant & Co. Inc.

Both firms provide comprehensive financial planning and investment advice to clients. Sonterra had more than $121 million in assets under administration, as of May 31, 2024, and Financial Services had more than $113 million AUA as of March 1.

Regarding Sonterra:

“I chose to join Cetera because of its vast array of product availability and the open architecture that allows a financial adviser the ability to truly focus on their clients and enhance their experience,” Spruiell said. “Comparatively speaking, I would describe the offerings in a bank program as essentially Neapolitan flavored ice cream, whereas Cetera offers nearly every flavor imaginable. I look forward to utilizing Cetera’s Wealth Hub, with a seemingly endless suite of cutting-edge tools and resources to provide additional value to my clients.”

“Jake is an experienced and well-rounded adviser who I’m proud to welcome to our community,” said Tim Stinson, president of Cetera Advisor Networks. “I know his clients will only benefit from the additional resources and support of our exceptional regional team model… .”

Spruiell has 25 years of experience in the industry and holds Series 7 and 63 licenses. Born and raised in a Laredo, Texas, a city on the United States-Mexico border. Spruiell has focused his career on serving thousands of clients both domestically and internationally. When Spruiell isn’t working, he’s spending every possible second with family. He has also served his community on the boards of the Boys & Girls Club of Laredo and the Kiwanis Club.

Regarding Financial Services:

“When our previous firm announced a merger with a large broker-dealer, we knew we wanted to make a move to a firm that would allow us to maintain that small-boutique community feel,” Seymour said. “With Cetera Advisor Networks, not only do we get the family-like experience of belonging to Summit Financial Network, we also have access to Cetera’s world-class resources. Most importantly, we haven’t once felt like just another number. We can feel the difference – and we know our clients will, as well.”

“Paul and Nicole are seasoned and dynamic advisers who make a formidable team. I’m proud to welcome both to our community,” said Tom Halloran, president and chief executive officer of Cetera Advisors. “I look forward to seeing how our unique regional team model and unparalleled support benefits and grows Financial Services’ already thriving practice.”

Seymour and Parker have 50 years of industry experience between the two of them. Seymour firmed Financial Services to serve the Plattsburgh, N.Y., community in 1995 and was joined by Parker in 2007.

Seymour holds his Series 6, 7, 63, and 65 registrations. He has spent most of his 30 years in financial services focusing on investment advisory business, where he focuses on offering individualized investment advice based upon a client’s needs and current market environment. Parker holds Series 7, 24, 63, and 65 registrations. Before becoming an investment adviser in the early 2000s, Parker worked as an options trader on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange for nearly 10 years.

Cetera Financial Group, which is owned by Cetera Holdings, serves more than 12,000 independent financial professionals and their teams, including tax professionals, banks, and credit unions in providing financial planning and wealth management services. Cetera oversees more than $505 billion in assets under administration and $213 billion in assets under management, as of March 31, 2024.
