Bluerock Continues Hiring Spree of Veteran Wholesalers

Bluerock Capital Markets LLC, the managing broker-dealer for real estate investment firm Bluerock Real Estate, has added former Griffin Capital Securities senior regional vice president Darren Beurer to its sales team. Beurer is the fifth wholesaler to join the firm since Griffin completed the restructuring of its sales organization in late September.

Beurer will be responsible for the wholesale distribution of Bluerock-sponsored investment programs in New England and Upstate New York, the same territory he oversaw at his previous employer.

In the weeks following the Griffin Capital Securities restructuring, Bluerock hired veteran wholesalers Damian Gallagher, Bruce Pomper, Jason Van Dusen, and Ambrose Aston.

Like Beurer, the recruits have reunited with their former boss Jeffrey Schwaber, who joined Bluerock Capital Markets as chief executive officer late last year after serving as Griffin Capital Securities president from January 2012 to August 2016.

“Like all of our recent hires and existing sales team, Darren is a top financial professional with a track record of success and exceptional client service,” said Schwaber. “While 2017 was a breakout year of success, establishing Bluerock as a top equity raising sponsor in the industry, our rapidly expanding selling group, product suite and industry ranking require the highest level of professional experience and Darren is a solid addition to that mandate.”

During Schwaber’s leadership at Griffin Capital Securities, the firm raised more than $7 billion in investor equity, with Beurer responsible for $400 million of the total raise during that period.

According to Schwaber, Bluerock set multiple records in October, including the highest total monthly equity raise in the firm’s history, equaling approximately $64 million.

Before to joining Griffin Capital Securities in early 2012, Beurer served in an identical capacity with Grubb & Ellis Company’s affiliated broker-dealers. His career in financial services began in 1992 with John Hancock Funds, where he served as a wholesaler of mutual funds, annuities and private placement offerings.

Beurer holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University and is a registered Series 7 and 63 licensed representative.

Bluerock’s sponsored products include the company’s interval fund Total Income+ Real Estate Fund, Bluerock Residential Growth REIT Redeemable Preferred Stock & Warrants, and 1031 exchanges offered through the vertical Bluerock Value Exchange.
