Ultimus Hires SVP of Retail Alternative Fund Services Amid Demand for Alts
Ultimus Fund Solutions, an independent provider of fund administration, accounting, and investor services, has hired a senior vice president of retail alternative fund services.
Ultimus Fund Solutions, an independent provider of fund administration, accounting, and investor services, has hired Sean McLean as senior vice president of retail alternative fund services.
In his new role, McLean will lead the fund accounting group that services Ultimus’ retail alternative fund business, which includes interval funds, tender offer funds, and business development companies.
The company noted that McLean’s new role at Ultimus is in “direct response to the continued growth the firm has been experiencing in alternative fund servicing.”
Gary Harris, EVP and head of sales, said that Ultimus “continues to experience significant growth in the retail alternative space, and [does] not see any slowdown in the demand for these products.”
McLean brings more than 25 years of industry experience servicing all types of registered fund clients, including those in the retail alternative investment space.
According to his LinkedIn page, prior to joining Ultimus, McLean spent a total of 25 years as director of fund accounting at Alps Fund Services and in a similar role at SS&C Technologies, which acquired the ALPS platform in 2018.
“There are frequently distinctive complexities with alternative fund servicing that requires a flexible and creative service model customized for specific client needs, including integrated technology solutions,” said Bill Tomko, executive vice president and head of fund servicing. “Sean’s direct experience in this space and proven leadership will further enhance our current service offering.”
McLean will report to Tomko and partner with the business and product development teams.
Ultimus is a member of the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA) and a Nicsa Alternative Investments Committee participant.
Ultimus Fund Solutions provides full-service fund administration, accounting, middle office, and investor services to support the launch and servicing of registered funds, private funds, and public plans. The company also offers structures designed for pensions, endowments, foundations, and other large institutions. The firm services more than 1,600 traditional and alternative funds.
