Skyway Capital Markets Expands Broker-Dealer Team with Senior Hire

Skyway Capital Markets LLC, a managing broker-dealer and wholesale securities distribution firm, has hired Rob Woomer as senior managing director.

Skyway Capital Markets LLC, a managing broker-dealer and wholesale securities distribution firm, has hired Rob Woomer as senior managing director. In his new role, Woomer will advise alternative asset managers, “providing comprehensive solutions for capital formation, growth and investor services,” the company said.

Woomer has 30 years of experience in accounting, finance, investment banking and real estate. Most recently, he served as president of capital markets for Peachtree Hotel Group and president of Peachtree PC Investors, its broker-dealer affiliate.

According to the company, during his almost 10-year tenure at Peachtree, Woomer “spearheaded the efforts” to enter the independent broker-dealer, registered investment advisor, and institutional capital channels, with responsibilities ranging from strategic direction and fund formation to distribution and investor management. During his tenure, the firm grew to more than $2 billion of equity under management, and invested in excess of $6 billion in real estate assets.

Prior to joining Peachtree, Woomer spent 14 years as a real estate investment banker, focused on mergers and acquisitions and private equity placement for public and private real estate entities and asset portfolios. He was also director and head of private equity of KeyBank’s real estate team, and prior to that held similar positions at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, a boutique investment banking firm based in New York, and Wachovia Securities (now Wells Fargo). As an investment banker, he advised on more than $2 billion of private equity and more than $8 billion of M&A transactions.

Woomer began his career as a certified public accountant, first serving in an external audit capacity with Ernst & Young and external audit with Turner Broadcasting System.

Woomer holds an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, a post baccalaureate certificate in accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, and bachelor’s degree in political science from the College of William and Mary. He holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 79 securities licenses.

Skyway Capital Markets has appointed a number of industry veterans in recent weeks, including Greg Mausz as chief operating officer and senior managing director, Shaun O’Leary as senior vice president of national accounts, Tammy Schorr as vice president of CRM enterprise applications, and Jeff Hunt as managing director.
