LPL Financial Adds $360 Million Team from Wells Fargo Advisors

LPL Financial, the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer, has added Harbor Financial Group to its broker-dealer and corporate registered investment advisor platforms.

LPL Financial, the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer, has added Harbor Financial Group to its broker-dealer and corporate registered investment advisor platforms. The firm joined from Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network and serves approximately $360 million of client brokerage and advisory assets.

Harbor Financial Group is made up of five advisors in two South Carolina locations. Partners Cam Werntz and Clay Hershey, together with Rob Williams, are based in the Charleston office, while Benton Montgomery and Lee Tiller are based in the Murrells Inlet office.

Werntz noted that the advisors at the firm provide financial guidance to clients that are retired or close to retirement.

“We essentially have a firm within a firm, allowing our advisors to work independently but also have the support of each other to help out with general strategy and wealth management. We’ve designed a business model that works best for us and our clients, and LPL is the right fit to support our team and our growth,” he said.

LPL Financial provides service to approximately $681 billion in brokerage and advisory assets as of the third quarter of 2018. The company provides proprietary technology, comprehensive clearing services, practice management programs and training, and independent research to more than 16,000 financial advisors and 700 financial institutions.
