Job Description:

ROLE OVERVIEW:
As an Associate – Due Diligence with Hines, you will be responsible for supporting the fundraising efforts of the Hines Capital Markets Group by managing all investor due diligence processes related to the company’s current and past investment offerings (including private funds, publicly registered, non-listed real estate investment trusts (REITs), and 1031 exchange programs).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to due diligence questionnaires (“DDQs”) and requests of information (“RFIs”), communicate portfolio updates, and prepare detailed summaries of investment offerings and various forms of financial analysis as requested by broker-dealers, consultants, registered investment advisors, institutional investors, etc.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and other research and prepare materials and reports to support capital raising efforts and fund management teams.
  • Effectively communicate specific details about Hines’ past, current and prospective investment offerings and answer questions in person, via email, and over the phone.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests/research projects from the management team and other business groups within the organization to assist with product development and positioning.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in an investment management, capital markets, investor relations, research, financial services or consulting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, including firm understanding of various Excel functions and formulas, able to work with existing models, and build custom analyses and meaningful graphic summaries.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of the financial services industry and relevant product knowledge (including REITs, 1031 exchanges, and other alternative investment vehicles) preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret various types of data from a strategic point of view in order to draw conclusions and solve problems.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding financial statements.
  • Perform numerical and financial calculations and analysis.
  • Exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Think creatively and contribute to project success.
  • Successfully manage a variety of tasks within a tight time schedule.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Interact with employees, visitors and business partners with poise and diplomacy.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working atmosphere among staff.
  • Ability to leverage technology and internet to perform all job functions at the highest level.
