iCapital, the fintech platform focused on alternative investments, and Wellington Management, one of the world’s largest privately-owned asset managers with $1.1 trillion under management, announced a partnership to deliver Wellington’s suite of alternative investment opportunities to the wealth management channel on a global scale.

As part of this collaboration, iCapital will facilitate the distribution of Wellington’s comprehensive range of alternative investment capabilities to wealth management professionals worldwide via its platform. In a joint statement, the firms said the partnership “reflects Wellington’s strategic commitment to expanding its alternative investments platform, particularly within the wealth management channel.”

“We are honored to join forces with Wellington to unlock new opportunities for wealth managers and their clients,” said iCapital managing director Marco Bizzozero. “By combining iCapital’s technology-driven platform with Wellington’s industry-leading asset management capabilities, we aim to deliver a seamless and comprehensive solution for wealth managers looking to incorporate alternative investments into their client portfolios.”

iCapital says the partnership will have a global reach, covering key markets in Asia, EMEA, North America, and Latin America, allowing wealth managers in these regions to access Wellington’s alternative offerings through iCapital’s platform, streamlining the investment process and enhancing investment options for their clients.

“We are excited to provide wealth managers access to funds on Wellington Management’s $32 billion hedge fund and private equity platform. Our partnership with iCapital allows us to meet our clients’ growing appetite for alternative investments,” said Michael Carmen, private equity lead portfolio manager, and co-head private investments at Wellington Management.

iCapital was founded in 2013 and provides end-to-end technology and services to wealth management firms, asset managers and registered investment advisors. As of Aug. 31, 2023, iCapital services more than $166 billion in global client assets, of which more than $28 billion are from international investors across more than 1,300 funds.
