Lightstone Names Alan Liu as Senior Vice President, Head of Alternative Investments

Lightstone, a national real estate investor/developer and sponsor of non-traded REITs, hired Alan Liu to serve as senior vice president and head of alternative investments. He will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of alternative investments for Lightstone.

Prior to this appointment, Liu was a managing director at Fortress Investment Group and co-head of North America Real Estate at Mount Kellett Capital Management LP (acquired by Fortress Investment Group in 2015). Prior to Fortress, he served as a distressed analyst in the real estate practice of Strategic Value Partners.

“In order to remain a top real estate investor and developer, Lightstone must stay creative and innovative in our pursuit of new investment opportunities,” said Lightstone president Mitchell Hochberg. “Alan has proven to be among the best in the business not only at identifying strategic opportunities, but at managing them through to completion.”

Liu earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario.

Lightstone is a privately-held, diversified real estate company. Its $2 billion portfolio currently includes more than 6 million square feet of office, retail and industrial commercial properties, 11,000 residential units and 3,400 hotel keys. It also owns more than 12,000 land lots across the country. Headquartered in New York City, Lightstone has $2.5 billion worth of projects currently under development in the residential and hospitality sectors.
