Former Sterne Agee CEO Joins American Portfolios as CFO

American Portfolios Financial Services Inc., a full-service independent broker-dealer, has appointed former president and CEO of Sterne, Agee & Leach Inc. and Sterne Agee Clearing Inc. as its new chief financial officer.

Damon Joyner, who is replacing Mark Manzi in his new role at American Portfolios, joined Birmingham, Alabama-based Sterne Agee in December 2011 to serve as CFO and was promoted to president and CEO two years later and helped negotiate the sale of Sterne Agee to INTL FCStone (NASDAQ: INTL) in July 2016.

American Portfolios serves 794 independent investment professionals located in 364 branch locations throughout the nation and was named broker-dealer of the year (Division III) by Investment Advisor magazine in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Joyner is a chartered retirement planning counselor, chartered mutual fund counselor, and chartered fund specialist, and holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 24, 27, 28, 63, and 65 licenses. He earned a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from Middle Tennessee State University.
