IPA Appoints Former NASAA Executive to Director of Government Affairs and General Counsel
The Investment Program Association, a trade organization representing the non-traded direct investment industry, has appointed Anya Coverman as director of government affairs and general counsel, effective September 25, 2017.
In the newly created role, Coverman will head the IPA’s Washington, D.C. office, working with IPA members and industry partners to develop and execute the IPA’s public policy strategy. She will also direct the IPA’s advocacy and outreach to executive, legislative, and regulatory bodies and officials at all levels of government.
Since 2012, Coverman has served as deputy director of policy and government affairs and associate general counsel for the North American Securities Administrators Association. In this role, she served as NASAA’s primary liaison and senior policy representative to Congress and NASAA, including the Department of Treasury and Department of Labor, and key federal, state and self-regulatory agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
While at NASAA, she organized and facilitated the association’s internal working groups, including several specially focused on portfolio diversifying investments, including REITs and BDCs.

Anya’s extensive expertise will help the IPA support its members’ mission to offer institutional quality-investment opportunities to the retail investor.”
Coverman received her juris doctor from American University, Washington College of Law and holds a bachelor of arts in political science and international studies from the University of Miami. Prior to NASAA, Coverman practiced corporate and securities law at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig in Washington, D.C.
The IPA supports individual investor access to a variety of asset classes with low correlation to the traded markets and historically available only to institutional investors, including: lifecycle real estate investment trusts, perpetual life REITs, lifecycle business development companies, interval and closed-end funds, energy and equipment leasing programs and real estate private equity offerings. The mission of the IPA is to advocate for portfolio diversifying investments through education and public awareness.
