Chesapeake Energy Veteran Joins Waveland as Senior Advisor of Business Development

Waveland Capital Group, an oil and gas investment firm, announced that Douglas J. Jacobson joined the company as senior advisor of business development.

In his new role, Jacobson will help source, negotiate and structure transactions, as well as participate with the operations team in overseeing Waveland’s oil and gas portfolio investments.

Jacobson spent 16 years at Chesapeake Energy Corporation prior to his retirement in July 2015, serving as the company’s executive vice president of acquisitions and divestitures. During his career at Chesapeake, he negotiated and/or managed the consummation of more than 8,500 acquisition and divestiture transactions exceeding $70 billion in value.

Before joining Waveland, Jacobson served as Co-CEO of Primary Natural Resources IV LLC and CEO of Whisper Rock Resources, LLC. Prior to joining Chesapeake, he was employed by Samson Investment Company, where he served as senior vice president of project development and marketing managing Samson’s acquisition and divestiture efforts.

Jacobson has served on various Oklahoma legislative commissions, including the Commission of Oil and Gas Production Practices and the Natural Gas Policy Commission. He is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from John Brown University and a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas.
