Charles Schwab Unveils Plans for Alternatives Platform for Individual Investors

The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE: SCHW) has announced plans to launch an alternative investments platform for individual investors this year.

The announcement was made at the Schwab’s recent institutional investor day. According to executives at the company, the platform will include categories such as private equity, venture capital, private credit, and hedge funds, with one to two offerings per category. The platform will be available to self-directed qualified investors or investors with more than $5 million of assets.

Charles Schwab is a leading provider of financial services, with 35.4 million active brokerage accounts, 5.3 million workplace plan participant accounts, 1.9 million banking accounts, and $8.85 trillion in client assets as of April 30, 2024. Through its operating subsidiaries, the company provides a full range of wealth management, securities brokerage, banking, asset management, custody, and financial advisory services to individual investors and independent investment advisors.
