Woodbury Financial and GCG Recruit Five Longtime Wells Fargo Advisors

GCG Wealth Management, a Woodbury Financial Services-affiliated firm, has recruited five advisors with a combined $330 million in client assets to its new Greensboro, North Carolina office.

GCG Wealth Management, a Woodbury Financial Services-affiliated firm, has recruited five advisors with a combined $330 million in client assets to its new Greensboro, North Carolina office. GCG Wealth Management has 34 advisors and $1 billion in client assets under administration.

The new recruits all joined Woodbury from Wells Fargo Clearing Services, where they each spent between nine and 19 years.

  • George Harris spent 13 years at Well Fargo and oversees $110 million in total client assets.
  • Shell York spent nine years at Wells Fargo and oversees $90 million in client assets.
  • Billy Ricketts and her grandson and successor Clay Craven spent 19 years and 18 years at Well Fargo, respectively, and oversee a combined $100 million.
  • Garrett Mullins spent nine years at Wells Fargo and oversees $30 million in total client assets.

Founded in 1994, GCG Wealth Management, is headed by president and managing partner Joel Burris. The firm’s affiliation model gives advisors the option to join GCG as W-2 employees, while still maintaining full independent status in their affiliation with Woodbury.

In recent years, GCG has experienced significant asset growth as Burris and his team have actively recruited advisors from wirehouse firms and across the independent channel.

At the end of 2017, the firm had nearly $500 million in client assets and now has 34 affiliated advisors in eight offices across the southeastern United States, with more than $1 billion in total client assets.
