Welton Investment Partners, an alternative investment manager, has hired a senior managing director to lead its newly formed wealth management group.

Welton Investment Partners, an alternative investment manager, has hired William Marr as senior managing director to lead its newly formed wealth management group.

Marr has more than 25 years of experience working in the alternatives sector and has held senior positions at State Street Global Advisors, Julius Baer, and Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management.

In his new role, he is responsible for delivering Welton’s investments to the wealth management community, including broker-dealers, registered investment advisors, private banks, and family offices.

Welton said that the newly launched wealth management group will develop and deliver its investments to a new set of investors seeking strategies to incorporate into their portfolios which are not reliant on rising equity and fixed income markets. Welton’s current strategies include multi-strategy global macro, systematic trend and multi-asset environmental, social, and corporate governance.

“Bill has an impressive track record as an influential alternatives leader building and advancing alternative investment organizations for over 25 years. His diverse expertise in global markets include trading, multi-asset portfolio management and business development, all critical attributes to successfully launch our [wealth management group]…,” said Patrick Welton, founder and chief investment officer.

In previous roles, Marr led due diligence and allocated to hedge funds and commodity trading advisors, including as global head of hedge fund research at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management.

He also headed alternative investments at Zurich-based Bank Julius Baer and Boston-based State Street Global Advisors. Most recently, he founded and managed Granite Street Capital, a consultancy focused on developing and implementing growth strategies for alternative investment managers.

Marr holds a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and FINRA Series 3, 7 and 63 securities licenses.

Welton Investment Partners is an alternative asset manager that manages assets for institutional and private investors, with offices in New York and California.
