Waddell & Reed Names New Chief Compliance Officer

Waddell & Reed Financial Inc. (NYSE: WDR) has appointed 26-year industry veteran Elizabeth Hansen as senior vice president and chief compliance officer of its distribution subsidiaries Waddell & Reed Inc. and Ivy Distributors Inc.

(NYSE: WDR) has appointed 26-year industry veteran Elizabeth Hansen as senior vice president and chief compliance officer of its distribution subsidiaries Waddell & Reed Inc. and Ivy Distributors Inc. She fills the role previously held by Shawn Mihal, who was promoted to president of Waddell & Reed Inc., the firm’s independent broker-dealer, late last year.

Hansen joins the company from Ameriprise Financial Services, where she held various senior positions since July 2000, most recently vice president and chief compliance officer.

In her new role, she will oversee compliance process and procedures for Waddell & Reed, as well as Ivy Distributor’s sales activities. She will be involved at a senior level in compliance surveillance and the interpretation and application of regulatory statutes and rules on a federal and state level. She also will provide recommendations on the design and implementation of compliance and risk management programs.

Hansen will report to Wendy Hills, executive vice president and general counsel of parent firm Waddell & Reed Financial.
