VineBrook REIT Appoints New President Following Brian Mitts Resignation

VineBrook Homes Trust Inc., a private real estate investment trust managed by an affiliate of NexPoint Real Estate Advisors, announced that John Good, its chief executive officer since August 2024, would assume the role of president following Brian Mitts’ resignation effective Dec. 31, 2024.

Prior to his resignation announcement, Mitts served as president, CEO, chief financial officer, assistant secretary, and treasurer of the $3 billion REIT. He became interim president following James Dondero’s resignation from the post in late August 2021 and president in March 2023.

Mitts will continue to serve as a member of the board of directors and will be entitled to two separation payments of $200,000 each (both payable in 2025) and certain restricted stock units.

Good also serves as CEO of NexPoint Storage Partners Inc., an affiliate of VineBrook, and has contributed in that capacity since 2018. He has served as a member of the NexPoint board of directors since June 2015, chairman of the board since December 2019.

Prior to joining NexPoint and from 2013 to 2015, Good was a partner and co-head of the REIT practice group of global law firm Morrison & Foerster LLP. From 1999 to 2013, Good was a partner, multiterm executive committee member and head of the REIT practice at the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, a nationally-known corporate law firm, and prior to that was a stockholder and chair of the securities and mergers and acquisitions practice group at the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell and Berkowitz P.C.

Good has over 33 years’ experience working with senior management teams and boards of directors of public companies in the REIT and financial services industries on corporate finance, corporate governance, M&A, tax, executive compensation, joint venture and strategic planning projects. He was lead counsel on over 200 securities offerings raising in excess of $25 billion over more than 25 years, with more than 125 of those deals being in the REIT industry.

Good also serves as a member of the board of directors of Farmland Partners Inc., a New York Stock Exchange-listed farmland REIT, where he chairs the audit committee of the board of directors.

Good’s has a law degree from The University of Memphis—Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, as well as a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

VineBrook Homes Trust, which launched its private placement offering in November 2018, is primarily focused on acquiring, renovating, leasing, and managing single-family rental homes located in large- to medium-sized cities and suburbs in the Midwest, heartland, and Southeast.
