UMB Fund Services Names Industry Veteran as SVP, Director of Transfer Agency

UMB Fund Services has hired Mike Huisman as senior vice president, director of transfer agency.

UMB Fund Services has hired Mike Huisman as senior vice president, director of transfer agency. UMB Fund Services is a division of UMB Financial Corporation and provides fund administration, fund accounting, tax, investor services and transfer agency, distribution and custody.

In his new role, Huisman will oversee UMB’s transfer agency. He has 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, and prior to joining company, he served as head of alternative product solutions at Envision Financial Systems. Before Envision, he was the senior director of software development and operations for DST Systems, where he worked for more than 28 years.

“Mike’s industry experience and expertise will be critical to our continued success and improvement, ensuring we deliver the best possible service to our growing client base,” said Maureen Quill, executive vice president and executive director of registered funds at UMB Fund Services.

Huisman earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Iowa State University and holds a certificate in data science and applied analytics from Rockhurst University. He currently sits on the NICSA Alternative Investment committee and is chairperson of the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives Technology group. He is also an active member of the Information Management Network and ADISA.

With Huisman’s addition, Scott Schulenburg, who served as director of transfer agency since 2015, is transitioning into a client relationship management role, where he will provide client service to UMB’s client base. Under his direction, UMB’s transfer agency increased its assets under administration by more than 87 percent in less than five years, the company said.
