Robert A. Stanger & Co. Inc., a boutique investment banking firm that provides financial advisory services, has hired former Starwood Capital chief executive officer Trisha Miller as a managing director.

“Trisha will be leading Stanger’s efforts in providing advisory services to institutional asset managers who are seeking to design new products or develop fundraising capabilities in the growing alternative investment marketplace,” said Kevin Gannon, chairman and CEO of Stanger. “Trisha’s broad experience with an array of top sponsor organizations is a valued addition to services Stanger provides.”

Miller has more than 30 years of experience in the distribution of alternative investments and mutual funds. As the CEO of Starwood Capital, she launched the retail fundraising initiative for the Starwood Capital Group, a $60 billion private equity firm with a primary focus on global real estate.

She previously served as CEO, head of distribution, and national sales manager at Carey Financial LLC, W. P. Carey’s broker-dealer, where she led the capital raising function for real estate and credit funds for nine years.

Miller was a sales manager with Rydex Funds (now owned by Guggenheim Partners), one of the earliest to launch alternative investment strategies in a mutual fund format. She was also with Columbia Funds and Putnam Funds earlier in her career.

Miller is currently the chair-elect of the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA), formerly the Investment Program Association, a trade group representing the alternative direct investment industry.

“I am excited to build on Stanger’s strong reputation for providing advice to product sponsors while capitalizing on opportunities that exist in the marketplace today to further democratize alternative asset classes,” said Miller.

Robert A. Stanger & Company is an investment banking firm focused on real estate, real estate securities, and alternative investment products, including non-traded REITs, NAV REITs, BDCs, direct participation programs, interval funds, Delaware statutory trusts and private placement programs.

Stanger provides financial advisory services in connection with identification, evaluation and execution of alternatives, including M&A transactions, capital formation, joint ventures, securities structuring, and fairness opinions. Stanger also assists companies in the structuring of public and private investment funds and the creation of securities distribution capabilities.
