S2K Financial, a wholesale broker-dealer, has hired Megan Smith as the firm’s director of national accounts. Additionally, the firm appointed two new regional wholesalers – Steven Reed is responsible for covering the West Coast and Jeff Arnold covers the Midwest.

“Consumer, regulatory and technological changes have disrupted traditional financial product distribution models, and opened up an enormous opportunity for disruptive wholesaling strategies that have a paramount focus on the end retail investor,” said Steven Kantor, founder and chief executive officer of S2K Financial. “Bringing on board Megan, Steve and Jeff in these pivotal roles will further enable us to serve as a top change agent in a field that is very much in need of transformation.”

Smith, who has been covering accounts in every area of distribution and facilitating relationships with major national accounts for nearly 20 years, previously served as executive vice president and national accounts manager at KBS Capital Markets. Prior to that, she held similar roles at AXA Distributors and Liberty Funds Distributors. She began her career at Fidelity Investments and the former Dean Witter Reynolds.

“These new additions to our team not only have the skills and relationships to accelerate our firm’s growth, they share our passion for building an innovative distribution platform for the future,” Kantor added. “We are building an innovative model that separates product manufacturing from wholesale distribution, drives a cost structure that aligns interests for participants in the financial advice process and delivers institutional investment opportunities that haven’t been available in the past to retail investors.”

S2K Financial, a relatively new firm focused on retail alternatives, is led by Steve Kantor, the former head of capital markets for Credit Suisse. The firm offers registered securities and private placements to the retail investing public, working principally through the independent broker-dealer and registered investment advisor channels.
