S2K Financial, a wholesale broker-dealer, has hired Brendan McLaughlin, Kurt Gunderson, Felix Vera, and Michael Roman to its sales team.
McLaughlin, who is based in Texas, serves as regional vice president of the south central region. He was most recently a regional vice president for Lightstone Capital Markets and has experience in business development, management, REITs, mutual funds and annuities.
Gunderson is based in Minnesota and will cover the north central region. He has served as vice president for several financial organizations, most recently in REIT sales with Lightstone Group.
Felix Vera, the new regional sales associate based in New York City, previously worked in sales, product training and management positions with Lightstone Capital and Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.
Michael Roman is a national accounts wholesaler who most recently served as the executive vice president of capital markets for MCI Megatel Capital Investments, where he developed and organized capital raising strategies.
“Regulatory changes combined with heightened expectations among retail investors are driving increased demand from broker-dealers, RIA firms and their financial advisors for product-agnostic wholesaling services that encompass comprehensive support at each stage of the distribution process,” said Steven Kantor, founder and chief executive officer of S2K Financial. “The addition of these new team members strengthens our firm’s ability to serve as the primary change agent in attracting and distributing a new generation of higher quality investment solutions that place the retail investor’s best interests first and foremost.”
As previously reported by The DI Wire, the firm recently hired Megan Smith as director of national accounts for S2K Financial and David Fred, formerly the head of due diligence at Cetera Financial Group, as senior vice president of due diligence for S2K Servicing, an affiliate of S2K Financial that provides an operations platform for institutional managers.
S2K Financial, a relatively new firm focused on retail alternatives, is led by Steve Kantor, the former head of capital markets for Credit Suisse. The firm offers registered securities and private placements to the retail investing public, working principally through the independent broker-dealer and registered investment advisor channels.
