Resource Real Estate Opportunity REIT Appoints Robert Lieber to Board

The board of Resource Real Estate Opportunity REIT Inc., a publicly registered non-traded real estate investment trust, appointed Robert Lieber to serve as a director.

The board of Resource Real Estate Opportunity REIT Inc., a publicly registered non-traded real estate investment trust, appointed Robert Lieber to serve as a director, following the resignation of Geoffrey Woodward, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to the filing, Woodward’s resignation decision was not due to any disagreement with the company, but rather, he was unable to devote the necessary time and attention to board matters.

Lieber is an executive managing director of Resource America affiliates, C-III Capital Partners LLC and Island Capital Group LLC, and chief executive officer of publicly traded REIT Resource Capital Corp (NYSE: RSO).

Lieber served under New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg as deputy mayor for economic development from January 2007 to July 2010. Prior to joining the Bloomberg administration, he was employed by Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. for 23 years, serving most recently as a managing director of a real estate private equity fund and previously as the global head of real estate investment banking.

Lieber holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Resource Real Estate Opportunity REIT launched its initial offering in June 2010 and raised more than $633 million in investor equity before its closing in December 2013, according to Summit Investment Research. The company’s portfolio is comprised of 29 investments that were purchased for approximately $1 billion. The company continues to raise capital through its distribution reinvestment plan.
