NexPoint Capital BDC Names New Principal Financial Officer

NexPoint Capital Inc., a publicly registered non-traded business development company, has reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission that Brian Mitts resigned from his positions as principal financial officer and assistant treasurer.

NexPoint Capital Inc., a publicly registered non-traded business development company, has reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission that Brian Mitts resigned from his positions as principal financial officer and assistant treasurer on April 8th.

Nexpoint said in the SEC filing that Mitts’ resignation was not due to any disagreements with the company or its executives.

The board has appointed Frank Waterhouse to replace Mitts as principal financial officer. He has also served as the BDC’s principal accounting officer and treasurer since May 2015.

In addition, Waterhouse has served as chief financial officer of Skyview Group Inc. since February 2021. The BDC’s adviser, NexPoint Advisors, has a services agreement with Skyview, which provides administrative and operational support services.

Waterhouse previously served as CFO and partner of NexPoint affiliate Highland Capital Management L.P., as well as treasurer and principal financial officer of a number of Highland funds.

NexPoint Capital is an externally managed BDC that launched its offering in September 2014 and closed in February 2018. As of March 31, 2020, the company’s investment portfolio had a total fair value of $64.7 million with 45 interests in portfolio companies, as of December 31, 2020.
