NB Private Capital Changes Name and Expands National Sales Team

NB Private Capital LLC, a real estate investment firm focused on student housing and a sponsor of private placement offerings, has expanded its sales team with four new associates.

NB Private Capital LLC, a real estate investment firm focused on student housing and a sponsor of private placement offerings, has expanded its sales team with four new associates including senior regional vice presidents Cory Guy, Jason Kling, Tyler Carter, and internal sales associate Carolyn Sumner. The company also announced its rebranding as Versity Investments and expansion into multifamily real estate investments.

“This sales team is going to be pivotal in helping us tell our story of transparency and risk management and helping to build our brand awareness,” said Jason Kjellson, executive vice president and national sales manager. “We’re also branching more into the multifamily asset class as there’s a growing demand from the investor community and this is a niche we plan to fill.”

In his new role with NB Private, Cory Guy will oversee the Western territories. He has two decades of experience in the industry and has raised capital for 1031 exchange/Delaware statutory trust offerings, real estate investment trusts, and multi-member limited liability companies. He has held senior sales positions at Four Springs Capital Trust, Capital Square 1031, and Grubb & Ellis Capital Corporation. Guy earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and holds FINRA Series 7, 22 and 63 securities registrations, as well as a California real estate license.

Jason Kling, who will oversee the Great Lakes Region, has more than 25 years of capital markets experience, fundraising for real estate offerings in both the public and private markets. He has held similar sales roles with SC Distributors, SmartStop Asset Management, Lodging Opportunity Fund, and Cohen & Steers. Kling holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Iowa and holds FINRA Series 7, 63 and 65 securities licenses.

Tyler Carter joins the company with 13 years of industry experience and has served as a registered representative with Cabin Securities, and before that, was a national account manager at NuView IRA, according to his LinkedIn profile. Carter holds a bachelor’s degree in applied economics from Florida State University, as well as FINRA Series 7, 63, and 66 securities licenses.

In her newly created position, Carolyn Sumner will primarily serve as a liaison and sales support contact for the wholesale team. Prior to joining the firm, she was associate vice president of national accounts and RIA channel at Triton Pacific Securities, previously held the position of assistant vice president and internal wholesaler at Moody National Companies. Sumner holds a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University in Georgia, and FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.

NB Private Capital was founded by Brian Nelson and specializes in the acquisition, financing, and ownership of student housing real estate investments. The firm currently manages more than $850 million in multi-family housing real estate and has raised close to $180 million in investor capital, according to the company.
