Morrison & Foerster has named former Greenberg Traurig attorney Alice Connaughton as a partner in the law firm’s REIT Group. Connaughton, who brings more than 18 years of experience advising public companies, real estate investment trusts and other entities in various capital markets transactions, will also play a key role in the firm’s corporate finance and capital markets group.

Connaughton concentrates her practice on advising public companies – primarily public, non-traded REITs – in connection with capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance matters. The firm said that she represents several of the leading sponsors of non-traded REITs and has helped clients raise more than $20 billion in public offerings.

She also has experience representing non-traded REITs with respect to SEC, FINRA and state Blue Sky regulatory matters, and she advises the management, boards and committees of her clients in all aspects of their business.

“Ali is a nationally recognized REIT lawyer with a long and impressive track record representing public, non-traded REITs, and we are excited to have her join our team,” said David Slotkin, co-chair of the firm’s REIT Group. “Ali’s focus on non-traded REITs further positions Morrison & Foerster as a destination firm for all REIT types and their sponsors. Through Ali’s addition, we now are able to offer a leading full-service REIT practice for both traded and non-traded REITs.”

Connaughton is the latest partner to join Morrison & Foerster’s REIT Group, which also added tax partner Jay Blaivas, who joined from The Blackstone Group, and recently announced the promotion of Andrew P. Campbell to partner.

Connaughton received her juris doctor from American University Washington College of Law, where she served as the notes and comment editor of the American University Law Review. She earned her bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University.

Morrison & Foerster is a global law firm that represents some of the largest financial institutions, investment banks, Fortune 100, and technology and life sciences companies.
