Merrill Lynch Wealth Management will soon allow its nearly 15,000 financial advisors to text with clients. The firm has partnered with CellTrust to manage, track, and deliver the new text messaging service. The program will roll out this month and in February.

Through the CellTrust SL2 for BlackBerry app, all communications will be time- and date-stamped, tracked, logged and archived. Financial advisors will be able to text with clients on both Apple and Android devices and through a web interface, which provides secure access to corporate email, calendar, and contacts from devices linked to their office phone numbers.

“Texting is just our latest investment in building our state-of-the-art digital capabilities – so that we can serve our clients when, where and how they want,” said Andy Sieg, head of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. “It’s one more step toward making the full advantages of our combined Bank of America and Merrill Lynch platform of products and services easily accessible.”

Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management provides wealth management and investment services for individuals and businesses globally. The company had 14,954 financial advisors and $2.25 trillion in client balances as of September 30, 2017. Client balances include assets under management of Merrill Lynch entities, client brokerage assets, assets in custody of Merrill Lynch entities, loan balances and deposits of Merrill Lynch clients held at Bank of America N.A. and affiliated banks.
