The Institute for Portfolio Alternatives, a trade group representing the non-traded direct investment industry, has added three new members to its board of directors, effectively immediately.

The new board members are:

  • John McCarthy, chief executive officer of Starwood Real Estate Income Trust
  • Brad Sussman – vice president of alternative investments product development and research at Raymond James
  • Chris Shaw – vice president at SS&C Technologies

“The three industry leaders added to the IPA board of directors will play a critical role in further advancing the growth and expansion of portfolio diversifying investments across the alternative investment industry,” said Anthony Chereso, IPA’s president and chief executive officer. “Alongside our existing directors, John, Brad and Chris will be excellent stewards of our guiding principles and play a key role in delivering on our three-year strategic plan. Their active engagement is proof of our industry’s strength, the growing importance of alternative investments for retail investors and the technological evolution underpinning our future.”

In other IPA news, Gina Gombar was recently hired as vice president of government affairs and associate general counsel.

The Institute for Portfolio Alternatives is an advocacy and education group for the non-traded alternative investment industry. The organization seeks to raise awareness of investment products with low correlation to the equity markets, which include non-traded real estate investment trusts, business development companies, interval funds and direct participation programs.
