IFP Hires Former Cambridge Exec as New Chief Compliance Officer

Independent Financial Partners, an independent broker-dealer and multi-custodial registered investment advisor that split from LPL Financial earlier this year, has hired Melissa Loner as the firm’s new chief compliance officer.

Independent Financial Partners, an independent broker-dealer and multi-custodial registered investment advisor that split from LPL Financial earlier this year, has hired Melissa Loner as the firm’s new chief compliance officer.

Previously serving as the RIA chief compliance officer and vice president of fiduciary services at Cambridge Investment Research, Loner is transitioning from one of the largest broker-dealers in the country with more than 4,000 advisors to one of the industry’s newest wealth management and retirement plan consulting broker-dealers where she will be responsible for driving compliance and supervision strategy for the company.

“I very much enjoyed my time at Cambridge, and I wish them the best as they continue to be one of the most successful broker-dealers in our industry,” said Loner. “For me, though, it was time for a change. I’ve been following IFP’s journey for a little while now and was inspired by the change in approach they have been championing in the industry.”

Loner has experience in sales, marketing, compliance, and supervision within the financial services industry. She earned an MBA from American Military University, holds FINRA Series 4, 6, 7, 24, 53, 63, and 65 licenses, and is a member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals professional association.

Last year, IFP hired Bill McCauley, the former chief financial officer at Transamerica Financial Advisors, to serve as its new CFO.

“We’ve conducted more interviews than you could imagine trying to find the right person for the CCO role,” said Bill Hamm, CEO of IFP. “When Melissa came down to chat with us, we knew we had finally found the person we were looking for. I can’t wait for us to get started working on the growing list of initiatives we have.”

Tim Moyer, previously serving as IFP’s interim CCO, will be transitioning to a lead role overseeing the firm’s supervision unit and will be working closely with Loner as she looks to build out IFP’s compliance team.

Independent Financial Partners provides technological, compliance, marketing, business development, and operational support to its network of 200+ financial advisors. Founded in 2000 by William Hamm, Jr., the company operated as a hybrid RIA and OSJ with LPL for 19 years before launching its own broker-dealer in 2019.
