Highland Capital Management Names Chief Strategy Officer

Highland Capital Management L.P., an alternative investment manager and sponsor of non-traded alternative investment programs, has added Andrew Parmentier as a partner to serve as the firm’s chief strategy officer and head of thematic investing.

Parmentier is the co-founder of Height Securities, a privately held capital markets firm, that provides research, banking, and advisory services with a focus on heavily regulated industries.

“Andrew embodies the entrepreneurial mindset that is in Highland’s DNA,” said Highland co-founder and president James Dondero. “In a world increasingly defined by ETFs and index funds, Andrew’s ability to drive innovation amid complexity and uncertainty will be invaluable.”

Before starting Height Securities, Parmentier was a partner and managing director at FBR Capital Markets. He also co-founded Harvest Exchange Corp, a financial technology company, and remains on its board of directors. He earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Oregon and a master’s degree in applied economics with mathematics from Johns Hopkins University.

“Highland is uniquely positioned to differentiate itself as an alpha manager in an increasingly competitive market environment,” said Mr. Parmentier. “Harnessing the expertise across the platform, from public equities to structured products, will add to the firm’s momentum and create new opportunities to serve investors.”

In other company news, Highland recently named Trey Parker as its co-chief investment officer and Jon Poglitsch to head of credit research.

Highland Capital Management L.P. is an SEC-registered investment adviser that, together with its affiliates, has approximately $14 billion of assets under management. Highland is the sponsor of NexPoint Real Estate Strategies Fund, an interval fund, and NexPoint Capital Inc., a non-traded business development company.
