Griffin Capital Teams Up With Skechers Foundation Raising $1.1 Million

Following their previous community effort with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, Griffin Capital Corporation (Griffin) continues to make waves in volunteerism through its engagement in charitable events.

Griffin employees recently participated in Skechers Pier-to-Pier Friendship Walk, an event aimed at raising money for children with special needs and education. The walk was organized by the Skechers Foundation and The Friendship Circle, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children and families with special needs through the provision of programs and peer mentoring.

Participants in the event walked 3.5 miles from Manhattan Beach pier to the Hermosa Beach pier and back, generating significant local support from cheerleaders and band members from the nearby high school.

“The walk was such a fun day for a great, local cause,” said Kelly Chapelle, manager of corporate events for Griffin Capital.

Co-sponsored by Nickelodeon, the Skechers Pier-to-Pier Friendship Walk has continued to break yearly fundraising records. This year, the annual event attracted 12,000 participants, raising approximately $1.1 million.

“As we continue building our company in the South Bay we are always looking for local charities that share our passion and drive to help those less fortunate—the Skechers and Friendship Circle Missions are two inspiring initiatives,” added David Rupert, president of Griffin Capital.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, Griffin Capital Corporation is a privately held investment and management company with currently 28 million square feet in their portfolio. Within the year-end, the company is planning to participate in one more charitable event.
