Former Colony Capital Marketing VP Joins Industry Marketing Firm as Managing Director

Spotlight Marketing Communications, a marketing communications firm representing many sponsors within the non-traded alternative investment space, has hired Rebecca Cleary as managing director.

Spotlight Marketing Communications, a marketing communications firm representing many sponsors within the non-traded alternative investment space, has hired Rebecca Cleary as managing director. Cleary previously served as vice president, head of corporate communications and marketing for Colony Capital Inc. (NYSE: CLNY).

“With more than 15 years of experience leading the marketing and communications efforts for several institutional financial services firms, Rebecca will be instrumental in supporting our clients and continuing our rapid growth,” said Jill Swartz, co-founder and chief executive officer of Spotlight.

During her seven-year tenure with Colony and its predecessor firm, Cleary was responsible for overseeing and executing company-wide strategic marketing and communications initiatives, including sales support, collateral development, online marketing, brand management and directing day-to-day activities of the marketing department. She also played an integral role in helping the firm raise in excess of $4 billion via the company’s non-traded investment programs.

Prior to Colony, Cleary served as vice president, marketing communications with Steadfast Companies, where she oversaw the development, integration and implementation of a broad range of marketing and communications activities that helped the company emerge as one of the most successful equity raising firms in the non-traded alternative investment space.

Previously, she held the position of director of marketing at Grubb & Ellis Company, where she led the marketing efforts for a variety of alternative investment funds and served as the national marketing liaison for 130 commercial real estate services offices.

Cleary graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from California State University, Northridge. She holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities licenses.
