Croatan Investments Names Real Estate Industry Veteran as Principal

Croatan Investments, a sponsor of private placements and Delaware statutory trusts that specializes in multifamily real estate, has added Mike Marshall as a principal to their leadership team.

Marshall joins from Newmark Knight Frank where he served as executive managing director. Croatan said that he will be responsible for the acquisition, disposition, and financing of investments at the company, as well as maintaining and expanding institutional equity relationships.

Marshall has more than 30 years of commercial and multifamily real estate experience and has completed approximately 185 transactions with a combined value of $8 billion during his industry tenure, the firm noted.

He was a founding partner of the Mid-Atlantic office for Apartment Realty Advisors, which was acquired by Newmark Knight Frank in 2014, and previously served as co-head of multifamily investment sales for Cushman & Wakefield.

Marshall has more than 10 years of experience on the principal side of the business, directing acquisitions at Gates Hudson, and serving as the regional director of asset management and dispositions for Sun Trust Bank.

He received his bachelor’s degree in finance from James Madison University.
