Bonaventure Adds David Pittman as Head of Capital Markets

David Pittman

Multifamily real estate investment company Bonaventure recently added David Pittman as head of capital markets. Based in Atlanta, Pittman brings more than 22 years of experience in the financial services industry and most recently served as senior vice president, capital markets for Cottonwood Communities where he raised capital in the Southeast and Puerto Rico.

For the four years prior to his tenure at Cottonwood, Pittman led Strategic Blueprint, a registered investment adviser affiliated with The Strategic Financial Alliance, growing it from one office with $118 million in assets to 19 offices with $1.6 billion in assets. He has also held various sales and leadership roles at Wells Real Estate Funds and FS Investments, focusing on both wholesale and retail distribution of alternative investment programs.

In his new role at Bonaventure, Pittman will be driving distribution of the entire suite of Bonaventure’s investment offerings from ground up development, single-asset investment, closed end funds, and perpetual life offerings. The initial area of emphasis is Bonaventure Multifamily Investment Trust, or BMIT, Bonaventure’s actively managed, perpetual life direct real estate vehicle focused on multifamily housing. According to the company, BMIT leverages megatrends such as population migration and the lack of housing availability in desirable locations, targeting above market returns derived by a balance of property value appreciation and tax efficient, monthly distributions of free cash flow.

Bonaventure said its hire of Pittman underscores its commitment to growth and excellence in the multifamily real estate investment sector. The company is confident that Pittman’s extensive experience and expertise will be instrumental in achieving its goals.

“We are thrilled and confident that his extensive knowledge and years of industry experience will make David an asset to our team. His expertise will be instrumental as we aim to strengthen and expand our relationships with independent broker-dealers and RIAs nationally,” said Dwight Dunton, founder and chief executive officer of Bonaventure. “With David’s keen understanding of the capital channels, he will allow us to help more investors to access multifamily investment solutions.”

Pittman received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Georgia. He holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses and currently serves on the board of directors for the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association, i.e., ADISA.

With $2.3 billion in assets under management, Alexandria, Va.-based Bonaventure focuses on the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. The company’s strategy emphasizes long-term, tax-efficient compounding of returns, leveraging its experience as owner-operators to invest capital throughout the economic cycle.
