Ashford Securities Adds Two Veteran Wholesalers to Sales Team

Ashford Securities LLC, a distributor for alternative investment offerings, has expanded its external sales team with the addition of two external wholesalers.

Ashford Securities LLC, a distributor for alternative investment offerings, has expanded its external sales team with the addition of Jeff Stone, regional vice president for the western U.S., and Sean Ryan, regional vice president for the northeast.

“As we near the completion of our inaugural year of raising capital at Ashford Securities, we are pleased to add Jeff and Sean to the Ashford Securities team. Both are high quality individuals with character and bring to us a combined 50 years of industry experience,” said Ben Hilgers, who was recently promoted to senior vice president, national sales manager.

Stone has more than 27 years in the securities industry, with the last nine focused on alternative investments. Before joining Ashford Securities, he co-founded Clir Capital which specializes in the distribution of alternative investment offerings. Prior to that, he worked at Evolv Capital Partners as managing director for four years, helping build out the alternative investment platform in the independent broker-dealer and RIA channels. He holds his FINRA Series, 7, 24, and 63 licenses.

“Jeff comes to us with a well-rounded pedigree having represented private placements, non-traded preferred stocks, and energy investments over a career that has spanned nearly 30 years,” explained Hilgers. “Jeff’s tremendous experience and relationships in this industry are a welcome addition to the Ashford Securities team.”

Ryan has 22 years of experience raising capital in the alternative investment and financial services industries. Prior to his new role, he served as regional vice president for PREP Securities, where he focused on raising capital for single-tenant net lease private placement offerings. In early 2011, he was part of the original team that joined Steadfast Capital Markets Group and raised capital for its multifamily non-traded real estate investment trusts.

“Sean is well respected by his clients as being a great wholesaler with a proven track record, great product knowledge, and excellent customer service skills…,” added Hilgers.

Ryan began his career in the financial services industry in 2000 at Wood Logan, the distribution team that became John Hancock Annuities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Vanderbilt University and FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
