ADISA Holds Due Diligence Forum for 200+ AI Professionals in FL

The Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association, a leading national trade association that focuses on alternative and direct investment securities, brought together more than 200 alternative investment professionals July 14th and 15th at its annual Due Diligence Forum, held this year in Miami Beach, Florida.

The two-day program provided insight into a variety of due diligence topics, including: the FINRA 2015 Regulatory and Examinations Priority Letter; an exploration of regulatory filings; an in-depth review of the current status and critical components of Regulation A+, 506(c) and investment platforms; Section 1031 exchange due diligence; energy programs and more.

Attended by broker-dealers, registered investment advisors, due diligence professionals, compliance officers, sponsors and affiliates of the alternative investment industry, ADISA’s Due Diligence forum also featured a keynote address from Former Congressman Barry Goldwater Jr.

Ken H. Johnson, Ph.D., associate dean and professor at Florida Atlantic University, presented the Latest Research on Real Estate and Direct Investment Issues at the conference last Wednesday morning. Dr. Johnson discussed the Beracha, Hardin and Johnson Buy vs. Rent Index, designed to signal whether current market conditions favor buying or renting a home in terms of wealth creation over a fixed holding period. Current results of the index, which analyzes particular markets relative to historical market conditions and alternative investment opportunities, mark Atlanta, New York, Chicago and Boston as ‘buy’ territories with the potential for wealth creation.

“ADISA’s Due Diligence Forum is a special event that we cap at approximately 200 attendees to provide a venue for open, in-depth discussions and educational sessions regarding the most important regulatory issues and due diligence topics affecting alternative and direct investments,” said ADISA’s chief executive officer and executive director John Harrison. “This year’s forum was an unquestionable success and we look forward to our 2015 Annual Conference and Tradeshow, this October at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel.”
