NexPoint Capital Names New Principal Financial Officer and Principal Accounting Officer

The board of NexPoint Capital Inc., a publicly registered non-traded business development company sponsored by an affiliate of Highland Capital Management, has appointed Frank Waterhouse to replace Brian Mitts as the company’s new principal financial officer and principal accounting officer. Mitts will continue to serve as chief financial officer of affiliated publicly traded REIT NexPoint Residential Trust (NYSE: NXRT) and other affiliated real estate-related investment funds.

Waterhouse has served as treasurer of NexPoint Capital and the company’s investment advisor NexPoint Advisors LP since 2015 and 2012, respectively.

He has also holds similar roles at a number of affiliated companies including Highland Capital Management LP, NexPoint Credit Strategies Fund, Highland Funds I and II, NexPoint Discount Yield Fund, NexPoint Opportunistic Credit Fund, and NexPoint Real Estate Strategies Fund.

Prior to joining the firm, Waterhouse was employed with PricewaterhouseCoopers in its technology assurance practice. He is a licensed certified public accountant and holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston, and bachelor’s degrees in microbiology and molecular biology from the University of Texas at Austin.

NexPoint Capital, Inc., a healthcare-focused BDC, has raised $82 million in investor equity, as of the second quarter of 2017, and oversees a $64 million portfolio consisting of investments in 40 companies, according to Summit Investment Research. The company’s $1.5 billion offering was declared effective by the SEC in August 2014.
