Franklin Square is on a Hiring Spree – A Sign of Growth and Expansion?

It’s not often that so many opportunities arise at once in the same firm. This puts the odds in your favor. Franklin Square Capital Partners is looking for a slew of new wholesalers, internal and external!
Internals
There are multiple Internal Wholesaler positions up for grabs. They are available for either Philadelphia or Orlando with Orlando being preferred and come with an offer by Franklin Square to relocate you there. There are positions available in both the RIA channel and independent broker-dealer channel. Candidates would be required to develop and maintain selling relationships and articulate Franklin Square alternative investment solutions.
Externals
Franklin Square is also seeking new External Wholesalers with job opportunities in Florida, Texas, New York, California, and Montana. The positions are open to those who have a strong background within the RIA channel. Hirees will encourage sales or purchases of securities of Franklin Square products to RIAs in assigned territories.
All candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree, the appropriate FINRA licenses, and experience in the field.
Divisional Director
In addition to these wholesaling opportunities, Franklin Square is also seeking a Divisional Director for their Southern region. The director will be based in Orlando, Florida and will be responsible for leading overall sales efforts in the region.
Are these new positions?
In an interview with The DI Wire, Michael Gerber, Managing Director, Administration and Public Affairs responded, “We are working to expand and diversify our distribution by growing in our existing market, the independent broker-dealer channel, and by building a team focused on the RIA channel.”
In a company statement through their spokesperson, FSCP added, “Having launched our first fund in 2009 with fewer than fifteen employees, we are proud and excited to be where we are today with more than $9 billion in assets under management and more than 180 employees. We continue to grow in all aspects of the firm, including in our distribution group. Lance Murphy, the president of FS2 Capital Partners, Franklin Square’s broker dealer, is growing our distribution team to meet the demand for our funds.”
You don’t grow that quickly in such a short time by hiring just anyone either. In order to raise and manage over $9 billion in assets in 5 years, you need quality folks and FSCP’s management knows this.
FSCP continued, “We place great emphasis on promoting from within our ranks and are adding new staff at all levels of our distribution team. We are selective, have a thorough vetting and hiring process, and put our colleagues through extensive, ongoing training. We want our distribution teams to be the best educated in the business so we can provide superior client support and protect our investors.”
Michael Gerber added, “We seek to hire smart, hard working, hard charging and ethical employees. That’s part of our culture here at Franklin Square, where we are building a world class team that does right by our clients and investors.”
Franklin Square Capital Partners is a sponsor of alternative investment products that are designed to give the public access to private investments. Specifically, they manage non-traded Business Development Companies (BDCs), which allow the investing public access to debt and equity securities of private companies and a non-listed closed end fund that invests in global credit, loans, bonds, and other instruments designed to provide financing to businesses.
Franklin Square has multiple offerings available including; FS Investment Corporation II, which invests in senior secured loans and private companies; FS Energy & Power Fund, which is focused on the energy and power industry; and most recently, FS Global Credit Opportunities Fund, a closed end fund, which focuses on loans and bonds of public and private companies.
